Dear Members...

I had some ODEL at an average of 29/= and I was keeping them for 8 months. I was not panic to sell them at a loss. But I was trying to sell them on a good day and buy back to average the cost.
Just minuets before the ODEL run I sold them and realized a loss around 45K.My broker phoned and told me that I missed the bus. Even she didn't have a clue.
What I'm trying say is apart from being patient, you need to be extremely lucky in this business to make profits. Isn't that so????
Buy the way now I have thought of trying my luck with VONE. At these levels, isn't it very attractive????

Thanks

With speculative shares....Yes.....it is mainly luck with some common sense and proper observation.

But there are planned very good long term investments also.I think that is what more-experienced guys--both local and foreign are doing now.

I sold not at a lose but with little gain before the movement really started.
I felt something was there but could not place what it was until their announcement the next day.
I think a few had the insider knowledge to make a killing with the movement but I do not regret.

Those of us who do not have insider information can loose our patience in this kind of market. Sometime in our share dealing history, selling before a run or selling too early is just part of the experiences we all had.

Don't worry too much. There are other fish in the sea. Given the probability that there are a limited number of shares in the market things can happen again and again with patience. But I know the feeling ; " how come other shares move and mine does not and when it moves I sold out too early"

@slstock: shouldn't these insider dealings be probed and the culprits prosecuted? Or is it a "stock market thing", something so common in any stock market?

I wonder if these sudden jumps (before the announcement) are actually due to related parties... rather than a few clerks tipping off some HNWIs. If it's the former, it's a real sad situation for the minority shareholders like us.

However, I think this sort of things are less likely to happen in large institutions like SAMP, COMB, JKH, PLC. If the company is privately held by a small group of individuals, then the likeliness of this sort of incidents is high. This is only my guess.

Cheers!

Yes Anubis, there large scale insider dealings if any should be caught. But I do not think there is way to eradicate all such cases. I read a paper saying that a certain former broker bought larger quantities before the news. These things can be easily be found.

Yes, I think so too.

Small Investors Association (if ever if it takes off) should pay serious attention to the issue of insider information and what can be done to prevent such in future, as we are the people going to get cheated at the end on such occasions, when a few laughing all the way to the bank.
