In the United States, in Horse racing, the three races that make up the Triple Crown are:

1. Kentucky Derby, run over the 11⁄4-mile (2.0 km) dirt track at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky;
2. Preakness Stakes, run over the 13⁄16-mile (1.9 km) dirt track at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland;
3. Belmont Stakes, run over the 11⁄2-mile (2.4 km) dirt track, the longest in thoroughbred racing, at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

The following 3 stocks are all trading between Rs 120-125. Their NAV is approx Rs 250.

1. Cargo Boat (CABO) - Building ( 6 storey + 20,000 Sq Ft) in Fort & Properties in Fort & Braybooke place. Share Portfolio with main stocks as LLUBS, DFCC, COMM BK, RENU, AHUN & DURDANS.

2. CFI - Share Portfolio with concentration to CFLB Group. Owns a Cross holding in CIT and accounts for approx 25 Mill CFLB shares, with substantial stakes in EB Creasy, Lankem, COMM Bank, JKH, Nestle, CINV and other CFLB Group companies.

3. LMF - Owns approx 38 Mill DIST Shares and small qty of DOCKS, Seylan Bank, Comm Bank etc.
Dairy Business is Ambewella and Pattipola Farms and Welisara packing plant for Lakspray Imported Milk Powder.

What is the best for the Medium to Long term i.e. Who will win the triple Crown ?

Taking nothing away from your good post or CABO

I think it is RENU which had 1.8 Million NTB. CABO holding is negligible for NTB but true for your other facts.

LMF has the best set up for fresh diary products but the Lakspray is 100 percent imported if I am not mistaken. The only locally produced milk powder is Milco's Highland.

Why Ambewela factory?

Is Highland local? I was thinking which milk powder to consume due to DCD issue Mad

@smallville

Ambewella factory not comes under LMF. It runs by one of indian firm if i'm not mistaken. But highland products are almost local.

LMF is the owners of Ambewela and New Zealand farms one of best managed farms in the country located in cool climates of Ambewela Sri lanka.

Nice analogy, Alchemist!

While investing, it is better to stick to businesses that you are familiar with. (As Buffett said, "There some parts of the game that we don't understand, so we don't play with them.") I know less about distilleries and milk powder than I do about real estate...

CFI is an attractively priced gamble; the only negative is the level of debt that the CFLB Group is exposed to. When higher interest payments gobble up your improved operating profits, it sure is a matter of concern...

Wouldn't higher interest rates been lower last quarter and the next ?

Yes, going forward, CFLB's Financing Cost would probably be lower than it was in the Dec-12 quarter.

It's a personal preference: I'd rather not buy into a company whose Interest bearing Borrowings + Bank Overdraft are high... A company with a healthy Bank balance makes more sense.

It is very much intresting to read this discusion. For ur knowledge I would like to share this new. As at today highland means MILCO fial to supply the demand as many lankans have tendency to use sl made milk powder.
However market mafia can buy all highland milk powder bags and avoid them come to market? Is it happening now .
