Market ended negatively on Monday where notable losses were recorded in both market indices. ASI declined by 67.38 points (-1.19%) to end at 5,605.26 and S&P SL 20 Index declined by 45.07 points (-1.42%) to end at 3,132.10.

Price depreciations in Ceylon Tobacco by 8.7% (closed at LKR 1,019.10), John Keells Holdings by 1.2% (closed at LKR 207.00) and Distilleries by 2.6% (closed at LKR 180.00) contributed negatively to the index performances.

Market turnover was LKR 324mn. John Keells Holdings was the highest contributor to the market turnover with LKR 148mn followed by Commercial Bank with LKR 32mn and Sampath Bank with LKR 15mn. A single crossing was recorded in John Keells Holdings where 241,000 shares changed hands at a price of LKR 209.00 per share.

Meanwhile, Central Investment & Finance, John Keells Holdings and Textured Jersey were the mostly traded stocks for the day and Central Investment & Finance emerged as the top gainer of the day. Stock closed at LKR 1.00, up LKR 0.30 (+43%).

Foreign participation for the day was 28% and foreign investors were net buyers with a net inflow of LKR 107mn.

Cash map ended at 33%.
