Government has a plan to buy electricity from india, then this will be poor dividend cheque in future. India can sell us the electricity almost half of cost which VPEL sells. We will be converted to indians very soon.... Sad

Any government will protect the local investors and then look at importing electricity from outside only if there is a shortfall of supply. If you look at the demand for power in Sri Lanka, there is a shortfall in supply and the existing companies mentioned earlier are going to expand as per their annual reports. Do not panic with speculated information. These Co's (HPFL and VPEL) are doing well on profitability year on year and paying good dividend etc, its a matter of time that these stocks will be placed at corrected levels.

that is not good for long term plan.

Ex
1)India giving good supply. and here we start lot of factories......
one stage if we got political issue with them. if they stop supply what will happen.

2)Foreign currency out flow. these two are main issue

Power has Power

we have to build new power stations rather than purchasing from outside. I think this plan from previous government. I don't think UNP continue this plan
