This hope has lifted the market suddnely. But remember the macro economic risks for wich the market has come down from 7000 to 5800 has been intact as it was earlier. Forex pressure, BoP pressure, interest rate risk, declining foreign reserves, piscal revenue issues, etc still at the same level. So its better to go your journy with full alert. My advise is not to try to eat curd from the barbar knife always. If you are successful once then say thanks and enough not try to eat even more from the same knife because you will increase the chances of hurting yourself. Hope all can understand what I am saying here.

We can't expect much growth in economy till 2019. Don't be much bullish to buy shares definitely you will loose your capital. Remember government is accumulating loan portfolio day by day . development is on a paper. So finally stocks are only value if some one wants to pay for in future. So be careful before your buying. Especially scraps because we can't say any bottom for scraps.

Our economic woes should not turn out to be like a monkey's wound. Whether a monkey's wound is big or small it does not allow it to heal by repeatedly scratching it and finally succumbs to its injury.
After all we are a small nation and the Govt after wasting precious time has started to steer in the correct direction taking into consideration the precarious situation of the country's economy. There are measures taken to set off Chinese debt and boosting FDIs. Hence, in my opinion one cannot rule out an early turn around in the economic front.
The bullish market sentiment is a reflection of the unfolding of the measures taken to address the economic woes.

UNP led govt accept chinese assistance

MR Joint opposition accept Geneva HRC as a reasonable organisation

Main objective of both parties is get the power and make money

Our problem is who is more concern about the country

I think Ranil and sirisena try to do comparatively honest job than others They try to lead people  and do not go after people for cheap popularity

Good examples are Fertilizer Subsidy and Chinese Assistance

When people understand govt effort Stock market also will go u

It is already started

Agree DG, the people have come to realize the Govt's efforts to overcome the economic woes.
When we look back the President was focusing on retaining and strengthening his party leadership in order to marginalize MR. On the other hand PM was playing the role of a trouble shooter resolving disputes among the partners of the unity Govt where there was a cold war which at times turned out to be open confrontations.
The stance towards China at the initial stages was damaging the already ailing economy. The unprecedented changes to budget proposals together with no meaningful measures to address the economic woes created an air of uncertainty not sparing the CSE. However,in the opinion of the people the scenario has taken a change for the good.
At present there are meaningful measures taken by the Govt to overcome the problems. Govt's intention of raising additional funds from Global donors on concessionary terms other than the IMF and a possibility of equity swap with China are some of the positive moves that deserves to be highlighted.

RW led government realized later the wrong action attributable to bad judgment of the port city project. Additional payment required for not fulfilling a contract is unbearable. Even late approach to china to have a relief was admirable.
But such negotiation is not only the catalyst for reviving dead market. Backing from IMF, EC & other nations, as a result of endless efforts, contributed to halt descending monetary tightness. Nonetheless many favorable & adverse events are to come in the near future & the consequence hang on the capability of managing them.

US think tank lists Sri Lanka among Asia's top 10 FDI hotspots
Fri, Apr 15, 2016, 12:24 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

CSE BULLISH WITH CHINESE ASSISTANCE FDI
Apr 15, Colombo: The United States-based think tank IHS Global Insight has listed Sri Lanka as one of the top 10 foreign direct investment (FDI) destinations in Asia.

The other Southeast Asian countries that are also projected by IHS to be the FDI hot spots in the region, are China, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, The Philippines and Thailand.

"Over the next decade, Asia Pacific is forecast to be the fastest growing region of the global economy and the region that offers the biggest potential gains for foreign direct investment," IHS said in a release Thursday.

"The Asia Pacific region will grow at an average annual rate of 4.5 per cent per year, boosted by rapid growth in consumer spending in China, India and Southeast Asia," said IHS Chief Economist Asia Pacific Rajiv Biswas.

"A key source of strength for Asia Pacific is the rapidly growing size of the economic region, which now accounts for around one-third of world GDP, generating strong intra-regional trade and investment flows."

Amongst the South Asian economies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are expected to show rapid growth over the next decade.

According to the think tank, the new Sri Lankan government has embarked on sweeping economic reforms, with its first budget containing considerable economic liberalization measures.

The Sri Lankan economy is projected to grow at an average annual pace of 5.6 percent per year over 2016-2020 while key growth industries are expected to include logistics, tourism, agricultural products, IT-BPO industries and construction.
