since some person trying to insult engineering profession i want to say this.. we are risk takers with a vision.. also engineers have the capability to learn any other subject and do well..
eg: look at the CIMA world prize winners (most are engineering undergraduates who study cima for fun) Razz

also google "billionaires who have engineering background" and see who is there Razz

( you can see all the famous people who run the global economy)

i dont want to insult finance professionals but according to my experience i find "most" of them lack risk taking capability, only rely on book theory, lack of practical adaptation.. Razz

regarding AEL, of course it is a highly political share. it suffered alot with the Yamapalana government. But people buy AEL considering about its future projected earnings.. Construction industry will prosper under Gotabaya+Mahinda government as it used to be under Mahinda's government.. also AEL is a highly liquid share so most of the high wealthy persons and extremely wealthy financial institutions invest in AEL (who are the actual market drivers)..

also if someone buy a share "purely" based on its "current" financials share prices of L B FINANCE PLC should be in the range of 250 to 300, OSEA.N0000 should be between 30 to 34, LOLC 200 to 300, JOHN KEELLS HOLDINGS PLC 70 to 90, DIST.N0000 7 to 10, Hayleys fibre 150 to 200, Hayleys fabric 20 to 25, REXP.N0000 400 to 600, TAFL.N0000 200 to 250, HAYCARB PLC 250 to 350... but practically they are not.. I agree. USA falling behind because best students study law medicine business. I have read that Most engineers now foreign & even those who teach science @ USA Uni not from USA. East Asia & India produce many engineers & have booming economy. Engineering top profession.

This world is full of Physics. So i respect . I can remember my mother wanted make me an engineer , i was forced to do mathematics , i was the only student sitting mathematics class at school but attending commerce class after school.im a result of combination of both .

We are not offended by Mr.ThilinaM's statement here but rather surprised and curious to understand the reasons why he threw such a generalized statement. Must have been a personal experience .

Well , every profession is unique requiring different skill levels at varying degrees, and like a cog in a wheel they play a vital role in the society .

but engineering profession is such a profession that people involve in it experience immense humble pride after successfully accomplishing what they undertake to do.they work with deadlines.Unlike in few other fields Half accomplishments are not a job well done for them.(people in the trade know that) I can bring millions of examples but leave it to our other respected forum members to visualize .Finally as Mr. Teller mentioned, 'this world is full of physics' so i too respect that fact

Engineering degree in moratuwa is just u cram for some books written by american and write for exam.

Stupidity is thinking you become inteligent becoz u did a difficult degree.

in usa they do not respect engineers or doctors like in srilanka. since srilankans have low IQ they think writing answer to a calculas problem is greatest thing in world. in developed countrys they respect for enterprenuers and inventors and Investors (thease 3 are one )

when u started with investing some times u ed as enterprenuer
when u started as enterprenuer u will end as investor (this happen 100% when huge success)

As per AEL lovers, its a purely political share, what ever the opinion we give, no one believe us. politicians can do any thing Countries like sri lanka . When LGL was unloaded to EPF, GRAN, TFC unloaded to NSB ( Reno silvas shares were unloaded to NSB] , ECL deal and so many. Finally we should not wonder if AEL dumps to Sri Lanka insurance .
But remember one thing , Most of these all dumped shares are dead now or selling at very low. What happened to TFC,Entrusrt Securities , and so many...

The cabinet has approved a proposal to implement the construction of a highway network covering the whole island.

The proposal was submitted by Minister of Roads and Highways and Ports & Shipping Johnston Fernando.

Kurunegala, Pothuhera – Galagedara and Kurunegala – Dambulla under the Central Expressway
