Banking sector December NPLs fall to lowest level seen during 2020

Sri Lanka’s banking sector asset quality, measured by the gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio, fell to the lowest level seen during 2020, finishing the year with 4.9 percent, according to the Central Bank (CB) officials.

Dampened and dented investor sentiment after the infamous SEC circular that triggered the market downfall witnessed foreign sale of 1,067,403 Sampath shares at 165 today.

Future looks very gloomy! Cannot bank on anything until matters are resolved in the best interest of all stakeholders concerned at the earliest.

The bank sector may run a bit. Especially there are some undervalued banks like SEYB , HNB,
we've seen some foreign entering into our banks during the past month
highlights, mainly SAMP.
SAMP - +5,908,348 (from 5/3/2021)
PABC - 92,003 (from 5/3/2021)
HNB - after dumping 6,134,698 shares on 5/4/2021 , then there are some positive buying going on
SDB, SEYB , there wasn't any attraction to foreigners yet.

Even though countries' economy in question, we didn't see financial crisis or negative impact to banking sector. Now we see some gan form financials, hence there might be some banking run in near future.

SEYB - 500k crossing @ 50.00, Thanks to all who have been selling this share around 48-49.
SAMP good buying at 55-56, will it clear 60's any soon?
COMB good collecting - hopefully, clear 95 soon.
HNB yet floating around 136, with some attention
SDB floating around 51 without much attention
PABC , DFCC gearing up.
When LOLC clears 400, hopefully, there will be much attention to the banking sector.

All, HNB,SAMP & COMB are good specially from long terms investor perspective.

However, at current price level, HNB seems to be most undervalued one, compared to its main competitors.
