i think jins is undervalued share . EPS 2.21 year . assets 8.80 RS ,trading at RS 17 . so PE 7.7 .
every year they are giving two divident which are most atractive . what your comments on this
[ /quote]

another factor that determines the price is the integrity of the director board

This is one of fundamentally sound share that did not move in this bull market to match with its performance. I don't know whether someone purposely control the share price. I dispose this share after holding sometime as it was failure to generate capital gain that I expected from it. But I agree with all comments as this a share that should move

i too am holding to this and with hopes to buy if i had more money to invest

the things which make me attract to them r there steady growth and the management.
plus this has the highest share in out of western province as i heard
and the 3rd highest share in insurance market from the whole country (i believe lately NDB aviva is performing more less when comparing to janashakthi and other who up in the list are of course sri lanka insuerance and ceylinco )

the below is only whot i think
as i heard harry J is considering to get in to insurance business back after he lost SL insurance and after continential does not performed as he hope so he can do 2 things since he has money in hand
either he can re invest more money to continential insurance or take over a company which has more market share (and merge the continental with it or keep both separately) so if he consider to take over janashakthi will be a good choice schafters are much more like buying and selling strategy Very Happy

please consider this is only what i think after the way things are happening and i dont know how much of this will be true just thought to share with u guys so do ur own analysis before going forward

All in the history and issue was in 2009 which was resolved.

Happened in May 2009.
"The suspension has been imposed due to a non-compliance with the Solvency Ratio, due in turn to the lBSL, not accepting certain specific assets as admissible even though these same assets had been previously accepted as being admissible for solvency since 2006 upto date."

REINSTATEMENT OF REGISTRATION 27 May 2009

The Company has informed the following to the CSE, "In accordance with Colombo Stock Exchange regulations, of the need to inform the Colombo Stock Exchange of any matter of relevance that will impact share prices, I now wish to inform you that the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka has revoked the suspension imposed on Janashakthi Insurance PLC, with effect from 2.00 pm on 27th May 2009.

The suspension was imposed on 12th May 2009 for a period of 03 weeks until 02nd June 2009.

The company was requested to show cause on why the suspension should be lifted. The Insurance Board of Sri Lanka has accepted the Company's explanations and the suspension has been accordingly revoked".

On what basis is it under valued?

It has not gone this up in the past....

It may trade at all time high, but you cannot avoid the fact that it still is undervalued.

EPS for the Y/E 31/12/2010 is 2.12.

So at current market price it trades at a PE of 9(19.2/2.12).

Correct with their EPS JINS is still undervalued in its sector. It might be interesting to note, that JINS IPO was at Rs 12 several years ago. This is one of the longest staganated share with regards to IPO price.

Anyone has this?

I think all the janashakthi group companies (CSEC,JINS,CFVF) are still undervalued compare with other companies in the financial sector.

one reason for being stagnant for long time was the fact that it is more off a family run business (As I heard)... Is this correct ?

How higher their prices go up eventually will come back more or less to the same level

JINS:

Total number of shares as at 06/30/2011: 363,000,132

Profits for the 6 months ending 31/12/2010: 624,910,000 EPS = 1.71
Profits for 6 months ending 06/30/2011: 218,115,000 EPS = 0.60 (the quarterly report says 0.77 but I don't know how they got it).

If you look at the two statements you can see that for the 6 months ending 31/12/2010, they have a 200Mil difference in "Other revenue" section (income statement). Let's be conservative and estimate an EPS of 0.60 for the next 6 months (ending 31/12/2011) - I suppose they'll publish this report soon.

So, our estimated EPS for the year ending 31/12/2011 is 1.2 per share. So, this share has a P/E around 10 for a price around 12 Rs.

The question is, is it a good P/E compared to other financial institutions / banks? analyse COMB.X, HNB.X, SAMP.N and see for yourself. Also compare dividends. A share can be "fundamental" (i.e not JUNK) but that doesn't mean its share price is always justified.

My personal opinion is JINS.N is an OK share for around 12 rupees (I already hold some quantity around 11.50 I think). But I can't say for sure that this share will not fall further (there are banks with much lower P/E values - this share "could" correct more - I don't know).

Cheers!
