Going by the population and death toll we are, but not immune to panic. We need a vaccine on urgent basis to control panic attacks if we are to witness a reversal on ASPI (All Share Panic Index).Growing Fear - Page 2 Icon_lol

Don't you think that our vaccine plan in a utter mess thanks to political interference.
One year go when rest of the world believed that only solution is vaccination ,We believed on DAMMIKA PANIYA. Our excellency just realized 'vaccination is the only solution' just few days ago...wowww

Summary regarding new variant
1. Current variant of Covid 19 was identified as B117 (England/UK version)
2. First detected in Boralesgamuwa on 8th of April
3. Indian variant was not (YET) found in samples. But, common variant in India is also England/UK variant.
4. England/UK variant is 50% more transmissible and has 50% more mortality.
5. Oxford AstraZenica vaccine is effective against England/UK variant.
6. Second dose of vaccine is recomended 12 weeks after the first. Some countries have given at 16 weeks.
7. Health Ministry has taken measures to increase ICU facilities and Oxygen supply.
8. There is no practical use in wasting time on ascerting whether the virus is Airborne or Droplet only. What matters is following social distancing and personal sanitization.
Thank you SLMA for the updates

unlike many other natural disasters.. in covid.. you your self is the one to save your self.. we have to be prepared and be safe..thats the best way to save human lives. goverment can only assist at it.. if our people roam around, they will pay the price.. simple as that.. but it should not hinder the countries growth and the economy.. sri lanka already struggling due to the 70 yrs of miraculous governance.. this goverment is not angelic.. but they are whatever we voted for .. so we have to bear and hope for the best untill they make the deciosions Smile

Look...I am not here for anti gov...campaign. About economy..I agreed with you, but we are  getting closer to pandemic tsunami..we need to do a tactical withdrawal from the economic front to save lifes from covid 19 . we are not talking about years here ..just 3 months till the vaccination completes.

3 months will be barely enough for even us doctors to get vaccinated in sri lanka.. i m pretty sure we will minimum need atleast 1 year... sad that countries like Bhutan and Isarel already 100 percent vaccinated.. anyways.... whats your suggestion? i know closing the country sounds easy..but very much not practical.. but i think zonal lockdown with intra district travel restriction, travels for lesiure, pilgrimages should be restricted..but thats again my thought..which is very much not important. i m hoping the specialists on this field are already up and on about this to find a better solution Smile

While being safe with the precautions already advised, try to get
Vitamin D/D3
Vitamin C
And zinc supplements.. They will boost your immune system and make you less vulnerable for covid-19.

Lockdown now and accelerate the vaccination program ...NO OTHER SOLUTION..we did a huge mistake and we have to pay the price for it. Only thing  left to decide is whether we pay the price with rupees or with human lives
