Bro, Hunter is not talking about a withdrawal to SL! But he's talking about "send money" transaction to your own MB account! Razz Then you can withdraw them to SL thru a wire transfer!

MB is the most inexpensive way to receive e-currencies to SL!
Use liberty reserve if you wanna do online e-currency transactions from one form to another!

I thought the whole purpose of the thread is to earn money in SL. This would imply actually getting the money to Colombo.

Any financial service will have the 3 mentioned fees ( commis, cross boarder, exchange rate). Its basics.

Are you familer with MB? If you have 100$ in US, what are the charges and how much can I get in Colombo if its sent via MB, assuming todays rates? Would be good to know.

Some figures that i know
* sending a check - sender bears postage, no fee from receivers side. can deposit at bank and get Rs at current rate
* Hawala - black market rate, can get Rs
* Paypal - No
* SWIFT - 10-20$ charged from sender, added to NRFC in local bank, can get Rs at current rate.

@Stumpy,
Yes there's one more than you thought friend. Smile
Anyway, just starting to make some 'consistent' progress.

I do not want to argue and prove myself correct on MB and getting USD to Sri Lanka with less than USD 5 per transaction.

For the sake of whoever want to do that: I never guess and say anything but have done it many a time (probably 20~30 times).

PS:
OK. thought of giving you guys a tip.
Do not use these services to convert USD to LKR and send to SL. Just open a USD RFC and send USD to the account; then convert USD to LKR in Sri Lanka.

To open an RFC need US $100 or its equivalent at Boc and Comm bank. I think same in other banks too.

Look at the fees in USD, U'll see USD 2.27 under SWIFT

Have a look around in the site for other details including how to send money to Sri Lanka.

You may talk to other banks in Sri Lanka for opening RFC accounts FOC.

Pls let me know if you need any help to understand further.

I have received some queries about how to transfer funds from Moneybookers
(Skrill) to Sri Lanka. For the benefit of all required, I will try to put down the details step by step below.

1. Go to www.moneybookers.com web site and open an account: To open the account you need to have a valid email address.
Ok?
Some ppl asked if Sri Lanka is included there. Yes. Pls go to the following page and see www.moneybookers.com/send-money/country-list/index.html
Clear?
2. To withdraw money they may have different options As explained in the following page
www.moneybookers.com/send-money/how-to-transfer-money/index.html
If you like, you can send the money to your bank account.
3. To withdraw the money to a bank account, you need to have a bank account and verify it with MB (Moneybookers). You can send money to an unverified account also but the amount is limited (I think about USD 15 per tx)
4. If you like, you can use your LKR (Rupee account) in the bank but the bank may charge some commission when money is received in USD. Please check with your bank about this.
Alternatively, you can ask your bank to open an RFC (Resident Foreign Currency) account (So that you can deposit USD in it). Also check with your bank if the charge a commission or a fee. My bank does not charge a commission so it is FOC (Free of Charge) for me.
Clear?
If you don't like to use bank accounts, you can consider withdrawing money to your Credit Card.
5. Once you have opened a bank account. Note down the bank account along with the banks SWIFT code. SWIFT code is a bank ID number unique to your bank. Register your bank account with SWIFT and your Account number in MB site.
OK So far?
6. Once you get money in your MB account, you can first send a nominal amount to your bank account (say USD 10). When MB send money, they will send a secret code to the bank. Get that code from the bank and enter that in MB site. Then your Bank account is verified and now you can withdraw higher amounts.

Hope the above is helpful. Let me know if you wish to have any further details.

Looks like this was your first post.
Welcome to the forum.

1. Sorry, I haven't used Alertpay. But shouldn't be that high to MB from any party. As I remember, paypal charge was about $1 per tx.
2. Yes, Sri Lanka is fine. Anyway, they can trace back the country using your computer IP address.
3. There is no limit from MB to RFC. Sometimes the bank initially ask you to deposit $100 to open the RFC account (you may negotiate this with your bank manager).

I am not a promoter of any sites.
Better use your own judgement and common sense to stay away from fraud.
Since you seem to be a beginner, what I can suggest here is to have a look at the following.
