* All persons above 65 years of age and have no permanent livelihood will receive a grant of Rs. 5000. Rs 300 million is to be allocated for this
2013 Budget Highlights

Those pensioners who lost on the CSE and over 65 years of age can benefit.

Mean no offence here to anyone. But I think beggars on the street might be earning more than rs 5000.

But this is a nice gesture. Developed countries have better social security schemes. So this is a start.

when it means no-permanent livelihood, even carpenters, basunehes could be included cuz they are not sure of a daily income.

Including July strikers who were sacked over protest there could be over 2 million 65+ Sri Lankans. And out of that how many could be pensioners?

I wonder how govt. can accommodate facilitating this need. scratch

I'm also not too sure hwo this is gonna work?

Allocated amount is 300 million and grant 5000 per month.

Cost per person per annum= Rs 60,000

So Rs 300 million only enough to satisfy 5000 persons = (300,000,000/60,000)
I think beggars alone we might have more than 5000 beggars in colombo ?

You pay when you work & get benefits when looking for an employment again while in transit. Very Happy
Why should all not come under one umbrella.
