I stated this, generally for the sectorwise. basically, for Lioc and Lgl. However, as said by Schemer, other electricity generation companies have long term agreement, and the electricity they generate is purchased by the government, so this will not affect their profitability. So, you'll have to understand their nature of their businesses...

Usually they have some strategy to minimise the effect of oil price fluctuations in the market, thats how the famous hedging case came in. so one need to carefully study it.

just because the world oil price is low may not necessarily reflect in the immediate quarterly results.

So one should weigh all probabilities Very Happy

Pull back we are expecting is good with this current news and XD effect. Laughing

Yes Shark you are right, Oil markets always work on futures, I am also not sure when will the current low price of Oil will benefit LIOC.

There will be a definite impact but when is the question and depends on how the futures work on Oil markets.

Any crude oil expert out there in the forum who can shed some light on this ? We need ti know turn around time of the crude oil to retail market Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

This will help to improve profit margin of production, plantations, distribution, poultry and other companies in the coming months and coming quarters. Global oil and gold prices should come down further. I also expect there may be some assistance for food export companies from this budget.Good luck

According to chart readings LGL has started its down movement. I'm no expert in this. Hope to see some expert review on this findings.

Will the current movement continue or will it overcome and join the bullishness of the ASI?

As analysts we should aware of this kind news. Because with success of coal power plant and sharp reduction in crude oil prices in world market are the main reason for this reduction. it seems that kerosine reduction has some political goal as well.

Dont forget the President Election...For me its good news whatever the motive is, because most of the companies hit by High Energy cost in its COS resulting in low margins. Now they can improve the margins. Boom time

Plantation .... How about Madu???

Not only Plantations Company like MADU but other companies in production, food and poultry sectors also will benefit. Consumers also will benefit and their purchasing power will increase. Each plantation company has lot of factories and they have to pick tea leaves from various places. In addition they have to transport their tea to Colombo Harbor before they export to all over the world. So lower fuel and electricity cost will boost their profit margin. These ceramic, plantations and poultry companies consume electricity. They were talking about higher electricity charges in the past. In the short run share prices of energy and oil related companies will go down. We should not forget in the short run market is like a weighing machine. With market trend they will recover later. Good luck!
