CSE EOD Data !

Hi Guys ,

I'm back to the forums scene , Sorry was inactive for a considerable period of time . Nice to see the NEW home has grown to be THE home for all/Majority of the guys who were at other sites.

As some of you guys know I was using AmiBroker and EOD data from the investnow.lk for analysis...But now that the site is down , and yours truly NOT being active there I don't have a way to get the EOD data .

I do have an updated EXCEL/CSV file containing EOD data until 2011/01/11 and I can export the current days data through DFN , But I need to fill the gap .

SO , If anyone can answer the question "How to export the HISTORY data from DFN ?? "" Will be saving my life...

Also pls find the mentioned data file for your reference.

Hell no... I will never pay for EOD data . Cus its freely available... (But I am also considering to pay for AMI , But given the fact that I'm a small time investor... I'm still using the cracked version )

Bro , what you can do is to get the AMIBROKER eod database which given above , and google and find a method to import eod data from AMI to META . Simple as that...

I found this plugin for AMI @ another site... And I've downloaded and uploaded the same to 4shared and posted the link here . (Or else you'll have to register on the main site AND download these...)

PS - I'm NOT using OR in anyway affiliated with this plugin . So use at your own risk.

Using Automatic Analysis:

Select the stock(s) you want to export and press the Scan Button.

The export file format (for those that don't use the MS file format)

Date(YYYYMMDD),Open,High,Low,Close,Volume

Buddy ,

First get MY CURRENT EOD data compilation which is up to date till 7/15/2011 .

Just UNRAR the RAR file to the following folder :
C:\Program Files\AmiBroker

* Be sure to delete your EXISTING Database before doing so...
*And keep the other two files on the desktop for easy access Razz

And woila there you have the latest AMI EOD database for CSE .


After that all you have to do is to update the datase EOD.. In the following manner...

Step1.
You can find the daily prices from the CSE site, in CSV format
http://www.cse.lk/listedcompanies/overview.htm
(You can find it in the trade summary page , at the bottom theres an option to download data as a .csv file)

The file will be on the following format

Company Name, Symbol, Share Volume, Trade Volume, Previous Close (Rs.), Open (Rs.) High (Rs.), Low (Rs.), ** Last Traded Price (Rs.) ,Change (Rs.) ,Change (%)

We only need Symbol, Trade Volume, Open, High, Low, Close (last traded) - High lighted in red

Step2
Make sure to copy and paste the data from the CSE file in to the Excel sheet by the name
"CSE DL.xlsm" (You might have to match the corresponding fields in both files)

And then save as an EXCEL first..and then again SAVE the same as
"CSE DL Edited CSV.csv" (In the save as dialog select and replace the exsisting file...)

Then all you have to do is to use the "CSE DL Edited CSV.csv" file to update the AMI database daily...

Go to..

File --> Import Wizard --> And in the first window select the above csv file using the PICK FILE button --> And on the next tab , select the COLUMNS (Make sure to select the relevant fields according to the fields on the CSV file) --> And on the next screen save your settings as a profile.

From the next day onwards...

Go to ..

File --> Import ASCII --> Select the CSE DL Edited CSV.csv file from the desktop...and let the magic work for you...

To be precisely accepted by Amibroker, the dataset needs to be in the following format;

Symbol, Date, Open, High, Low, Close, Vol

Whare Date = YYMMDD, a date in July 15th 2011 (15-07-11) needs to be changed to 110715 in csv file before upload to Amibroker.

I have an "Amibroker cracked version" installed in my computer. Though I'm very keen to use it, (I have never used it, with my little IT knowledge) I didn't belive I can find history data. Now you have shown us where to find the database.
I will frist try to delete existing data base and import CSE data using your database http://www.4shared.com/file/UL27vhiR/MyNewData.html I'm not sure whether I'm compitent enough (with my very little IT) to do that download/conversion/import in to Amibroker. Anyway I'll try ....

@smallville : I've simply changed the date format in the AMI BROKER import wizard and saved it as Ive mentioned above and so far it worked fine for me . But all are are free to use either date format as long as they change the import profile in the wizard .

Thanks for this valuable share. Like god given, You came up with this dataset as I was about to start playing with Amibroker.
I have downloaded the following files.

MyDatabase (CSE EOD data up to 07/11/2011)

CSE_DL.xlm (Up to 7/15/2011)

CSE_DL_Edited_CSV (Up to 7/15/2011)

Then I deleted my own database and replaced it with your "MyDatabase". Now inside Amibroker I can see candlestick chart is drawn up to 11/07/2011.

Please pardon me for my ignorance, but what should I do next? I have already tried

Go to ..

File --> Import ASCII --> Select the CSE DL Edited CSV.csv file from the desktop...and let the magic work for you...

But it gave me some 3000 errors Any help?

@webhoundx : I have NO idea abt these errors... But TRY to get in to AMI and opening a few charts . If its OK with correct data , Then my best bet would be to check the DATE Format of the database .

@SanjivFund : Pls drop a PM to "MoneyLover" he might be able to assist... I think he went thro the same trouble .

some times back I used to get the EOD data by saving the CSE daily price list in csv format and import the file to Amibroker.I have experienced this kind of errors mentioned by @webhound.I sorted it out.
Probably the the reason for error 1 )If there is a heading line on csv file we have to skip one raw.In the import window there is a box to write the number of raws to skip.In the above list the first raw should be skipped because it contains the title of the columns.

2)The import fields in the import wizard window must match with column csv file , ie date ,ticker ,high,low ,o,c ,vol etc .
the date format must be same .
the type of separator (coma or space or tab ) must be selected in the import window to match with separators used in the data file
After i entered these details in the import wizard window i got the data successfully in to the amibroker syste.

Mmmmm .... Ok I'll explain the steps that I followed (I didn't have any previous knowledge but followed CubedSol's instructions)

1. Deleted existing C:\Program Files\Amibroker\MyNewData (deleted “MyNewData” folder)
2. File>New>Databse> set database folder as C:\Program Files\Amibroker\MyNewData
3. File>Database settings > No of bars set 4000 (for 15 years) > OK
4. Close Amibroker
5. Download “MyNewData.rar” from link http://www.4shared.com/file/UL27vhiR/MyNewData.html(database shared by CubedSol)
6. *UNRAR the file (extract) to location C:\Program Files\Amibroker
I think now the database has been linked with my Amibroker; (I can see ASPI daily charts, CSE stock symbols… etc). I guess I correctly did Step 1 … if not please MAKE ME CORRECT

*Please note UNRAR (extract) the RAR file “MyNewData.rar” you need special software WinRAR or RarZilla (http://www.philipp-winterberg.com/software/rarzilla_free_unrar.php) that you can download and install without any cost.

smallville & webhoundx : Today even I got these errors... And just tried what smallville suggested , and it worked JUST fine.

An UPDATED version of MY CURRENT DATABASE (Ticker data up to 18th July) is available on the below link (Pls unzip this to your AMI directory and replace the current database )
