with in very shot time. wt u guyz think. does any body think that this is now going becuz of any other reason. make sure it is a loss making company an only indicator will be NET assets, can any body remember wt happen to the Ascot after its revaluation. it went from 9 to 70 after the revaluaton.
correct me if i am wrong.
and think and do the trading not a bye or sell comment. just the info according to caculation.
no plant...ation trading below net assets value other than the maskeliya.it is also with .94 ratio.

this is wt their last statment says.
The Carrying Value of Fuel wood (Timber) Plantations which reflects as Rs. 110.667 Mn.as at 30th September 2010,
have been revalued by an independent Qualified Valuer and the revaluation has not yet been ...incorporated into the
Financial Statements. The revalued amount is Rs.2,261,054,393/=
caculate the revaluation surplus.

According to quarterly reports, the valuation comes around 82.60

If we take average figures based on 100% tea plantation companies, it comes around 83.10 which was based on BOPL, MADU,MASKELIYA,TKELLE Price to book

this is copyed from another post. thank u mktsentiment. CAN ANY member analyse this for us further. this seems to be a risk free investment for at least 80 gain,
this is the q rsults of last q and it clearly says that they hv revalued it for 2.1 b.

There are other plantations which have foresty cultivations. But, i don't know whether this is the right practice.

If other plantation companies, have such cultivations, why don't they recognise such at revalued amount?
If they recognise so called assets at revalued amount, then it will enhance shareholders' equity like this.
In Colombo land and few other companies, such revaluation effect made the prices move and adjust according to new shareholders' value.

This is not the first time this issue of MADU 'dara' has been bought up. Innam bought it up months ago. we're talking about dara here 2.2Bn of, i can't imagine how large of a stock these guys are talking about. are they going to clear an entire forest?

a single word of warning here. ther plenty of companies that trade far below their asset value in the CSE, i don't expect MADU to post decent profits in the next few quarters, especially with the wage revision coming up. so don't jump into this willy nilly

Refer to ELPL 2009/10 annual reports. They do foresty... But, i don't know how they value it. There should be a common practice across the industry and one can not go for different practice. As far as i know , there is a controversy over the legality of biologocal assets valueations. The pending caurt case of TWOD may also be related to this practice.

As i said yesterday on ELPL, on my post , should be loooking at plantatiossn which diversify their revenue base.

Agree with Mono,

Why all are mad with MADU now.

Let assume all wood(dara) valued for 2.2b & sold within some period,
So then what will u doing guys.
Do u think this money enough forever.

Need to see clear future growth of that, otherwise NAVPS is not only thing to consider to buying a stock.

The other thing is this. isn't this basically a forest that is getting cut down. Can they cut this down that easily without environmental people breathing down their throat.

I had been there several times, Madulsima is the last known highest mountain range toward east part upcountry hills. once in yr life try to go there u will feel it like heaven, with small town & village.

Don't think no one will allow to clear that forest

It is true that all the foresty won't be allowed at once to cut down. But the company has a viable 5 years continuous plan to grow new trees on areas where trees cut down. During this financial year there is a less sales of timber compared to Balangoda Plantations, however, in the future, it will be better to gain additional income from timber. It might become the main source of income in the future. Government institutions allow to the cutting down process if the company makes necessary procedures to lesser tha impact to the enviroment such as replanting, etc.
