Are You Sure? Shocked

Yes Check their annual reports, Oil Palm is very profitable with margins near 50%

Yes but still they're doing tea

No please check June 2020 Quarter financials "Segmental Analysis - Group" No revenue from tea.
That Watawala Tea, Zesta and Rankahata brands available in the market are under Sunshine Holdings and nothing to do with Watawala Plantations. Sunshine buy tea from other plantations, pack and sell both locally and internationally
You are correct . I checked only annual report .But why tea is in that segmental analysis Question 2019/2020 annual report

Not for trading. Make a investment on plantation sector. Future is bright. Also hope a good dividend yield (>10%)

Invest in BALA and KOTA if you can have strong holding power. At least 18 months (1 & half yr). As they are still having the curve.

Look sharp KOTA is still trading below 7/=. It's true that the KOTA NAV was decreased by 66% over 3 years. Also BALA is having a (-) NAV of 14. But now they are starting to perform better now. KOTA June QR not released yet. Guess what will happen if it is positive.

So according to my view if you are investing in plantation sector,

Invest 30% in BALA and KOTA. (BALA is trading below 14/= and KOTA is trading below 7/= .They are still in loses and warming up. Trading @low prices and even 100% gain is possible within couple years. But cannot expect a dividend sooner.)

Invest 60% in NAMU and KGAL. (They are already earning profits and paying good amounts of dividends , so if you are buying @current prices you will be able to get more than 9% dividend + capital gain.) Much better than FDs

You can wait and invest the remaining 10% in any other interested plantation after a good analysis.

Good Luck!

At this time best in manufacturing sectors. Haycarb, Dipp, Expo are better counters than plantation sectors.

Nah brother, they already had a big price gain. So right now plantations are more potential.

Palm oil issue, I believe will have a serious impact ( ELPL, NAMU) unless the government take it step by step. Tea estates have more labour force than rubber or palm. And because of that and also they may have to pay the arrears + EPF, ETF and also termination benefits. Probably the plantation sector will not pay any dividends. And then the next salary adjustment will be round the corner. This is what I think, correct me I am wrong.

Yeah as you say, there might be extra expenses but i'm pretty sure KGAL and NAMU will keep paying dividends. Also expect a better div in future because they are started to perform better comparing to last years.

I know this. My dad has the same problem. Sometimes we have to buy without bargaining. We must have confidence about what are we doing.

Tbh i wasn't watching NAMU, but after teller's recommendation i studied the share and that was pretty interesting. So i directly purchased from seller @105 without bargaining. But there few issues as glad mentioned palm oil issue. Their main profit making segment is oil palms. We need to be aware of that. Btw they pay a good dividend annually.

Yeah price correction may happen sooner. Try to grab KOTA and KGAL then. Give priority to KGAL. It is really good around 60. I think they will pay at least 6rs this time. Also AGST is okay to buy below 5.
I interest in KOTA, what is the best price to enter? Any target price?

Today, there was a high collection.

Further, Low interest rates will create an additional value for them !!
When compare Current Tea prices in each tea classes,  generate extra beneficial for KVAL tea categories !!

Compared to others KVAL has not appreciated much. One year low 63.10 high 90.00. Still trading around 71.00. Quite possible to appreciate to 80-85 level soon. Good profitable company paying yearly dividends.
Dont push, good to collect around 71.

I think plantation sector will move further. Specially MAL,KOTA,BOPL.I heard Last month huge demand for tea. But the harvest reduction due to weather condition. They can not provide their harvest to fulfill market demand. Therefore further tea price increased and economical policies are favorable to tea sector.
