I think Sanction is entirely depend on the Geo political interest.. It is depend on how we deal with China ,India and West..especially China.

Currently China access to Indian ocean (oil rich countries in the middle east and Africa) through the Malacca strait, which is surrounded by US friendly countries. Therefore China is building a ground supply route through Myanmar (Obama came to Myanmar recently Very Happy ..how important Myanmar to US). They have built several ports in this route H tota is one them. These ports are known as Perls of Indian ocean are considered as security threats by India and US..

UN actions

We have unsettle issues related to HR and Tamils in the country and there is strong lobbying by the Tamil diaspora in the world than SL gov. This issue is concern for India also. Now there is suggestion by some parties to hold UN mediated referendum in the North and East.. Mad

All investments and Future will depend on how intelligent we are... how we can settle these issues. our internal problems can be fuel to outsiders (not Tamils) to justify their actions..

Anyway I believe there wont be significant impact to investment in near future..

Some time govt might play the card well as mentioned by Hanoifortune .I agree

Why Govt can't use that effort for development work.?

Do you think creating problem and solving those problems is efficiency

If that is so this govt may be the most efficient govt in the world

This government has to be there for another few terms. If not them we could have lost our integrity and sovereignty. But they have a responsibility to ease the misunderstanding between communities before taking any development work.
For development with public and private sectors participation only possible. Meantime, Gov.’s Responsibility is to reduce the waste and corruption and make sure law and order are in place. These are our timely need; if there are improvements on these, there is no need others to poke their nose into our country.

Without independent judiciary how can prevent corruption ?

Govt will have to help supporters when judiciary is under the control of govt

When judiciary is independent govt can say corrupt supporters "sorry we cant help you the judiciary is independent"

Guys, having said about my long erm opinion on CSE, I am sensing that certain members and brokers are worried about March. These negative mentalities can create market dips during that time even if nothing really that bad will happen.

In summary if you are a short term player enjoy what the market is offering now. Long term look for dips to purchase more shares of strong companies.

I do not think UN will impose embargoes or sanction

But our leaders may have to face some problems when they visits western countries after passing UNCHR resolution
IF PASSED

Any way if this gov is week Majority of investors will come to the market

There may be negative and positive effects to stock market
Therefore
the Total effect will be not so bad
Nothing to worry

Today, no three states have greater importance for Sri Lanka’s future than India, China and the USA, though not in any inevitable order. What is alarming is that the Sri Lankan policy makers seem to understand none of these powers.

Reuters: China took over management on Monday of Pakistan’s Gwadar port, en route to key Hormuz Straits oil shipping lanes, in a move which has prompted nerves in India about its fellow Asian giant’s growing strategic clout.

China financed more than 80 per cent of the $ 248 million development cost of the port on the Arabian Sea, as part of a plan to open up an energy and trade corridor from the Gulf, across Pakistan to western China.
When complete, the port could be used by the Chinese Navy, analysts say, and Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony told reporters on 6 February that Chinese control of the port was “a matter of concern”.

Indian policymakers are wary of a string of strategically-located ports being built by Chinese companies in its neighbourhood, as India beefs up its military clout to compete.

China has also funded ports in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, and Chittagong in Bangladesh, both India’s neighbours.
After a signing ceremony on Monday, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said he hoped Gwadar would soon be a “hub of trade and commerce in the region”.

In January, Pakistan’s cabinet approved the transfer of Gwadar port from Singapore’s PSA International to Chinese Overseas Port Holdings Limited.
