For CFVF, I think its good support around 45. According to shark malli, this is very good support around 40... affraid

Hi, I think the upward movement in the share price is due to the dividend expectations coupled with the better earnings supported by unexpected rain.

As per the actual generation data upto November the EPS for FY14/15 stands at 1.02, meaning a PE of 7 times. Waiting till the actual generation data for December, once it is available I'll post the revised numbers.

I think, upon the election, VPEL has a better chance of upward movement given that the strong fundamentals.

As TuskerLK pointed out a dividend of VPEL should come any time soon. For me @ 7.90 this is fine to buy.

Businessmen have both sides under check and i can't see how a hydropower company can be suppressed by political forces.

Hydro power companies operate with long term agreement with the governments & in a well regulated environment. I don't see any issues that can crop up to adversely affect the hydro companies.

In addition,the present minister in charge is the same minister oversaw the industry during MR regime, it should give policy stability for some extend.

However, those projects endangered due to some proposed development projects by former regime might benefit due to the additional delays/ cancellation of such projects.(ex. Uma oya diversion, Gin ganga diversion etc)

If the gov't really want to suppress Dammika Perera, they have other big enterprises in his empire to catch. in fact on my view, VPEL may be the most safer bet for DP presently.

Adding to before, wouldn't it be an apt move for DP to give out another hefty dividend so that he is liquid as well as has a buffer against all these taxes this new government is imposing on most of his ventures? (Hayleys, Casino etc)

Don't expect a similar performance on the Q4.

Q4 will generally a dry season, thus the bottom line is also low. my workings indicates a group Q4 PAT for nearly 30mn. therefore we can safely assume that the EPS for the current year will be less than 1.25. thereby VPEL is trading at a PE of 6.5 times.

Going forward the tariff may come down owing to the low international crude oil prices, which is one important parameter in computing the avoided cost tariff, which is paid to all three power plants owned by VPEL. however the impact is not directly proportional to the crude oil price drop in the recent past, due to the fact that the actual avoided cost tariff paid is the average of last couple of years's computed tariffs.

Given that in mind i'm expecting a maximum of 10% reduction in the tariff,however the reduction of finance cost due to the repayment of facilities obtained from its last two projects would reduce the impact. Overall I expect a EPS of 1.03 for FY 2015/16 which would give a forward PE of 8 times. I'm still positive about the earning potential.

Although VPEL is quite a dividend paying company, they seems to have no plans to invest in any further projects, which limits the long term growth of the company.
