The Invasion took place finally and sanctions came, this is not the first time and the same happened in 2014. Germany and France stepped up as peacemakers. This time USA is also caught up with its NATO strategy which has already backfired. Because due to the current situation if the oil and gas prices keeps shooting up then USA administration will struggle to contain the inflationary effects. on the other hand European Union will loose gas and will have to face the same situation like USA but additionally relying on Russian & Ukraine gas supply by Europe going to disrupts industries and day to day life there.

If the West was reluctant in 2014 to go for war but settled with agreements for the same exact situation, then the same would happen with a amended MINSK agreement probably with a MINSKiii. Therefore still on the belief that this would get settled soon

Any time a peacemaking effort going to happen and if timed it up correctly we can recoup the lost money in CSE

I don't think decline in is due to the war in another part of the world, it is purely based on the dire situation in the country. we will not have any short term effects other than the price of oil

At the moment EXPO is the only Company we can take a bet on becuase Oil price are expected to hit $150 which is not good for tankers and dry bulk spot rates. Especially there will be a huge demand for crude carriers. which means shipping rates in general going to be high and EXPO can have a tail wind affects

Russia is the largest tea buyer, 54% of the Tea Imports of Russia are from Sri Lanka & India.
Out of the total exports to Russia from Sri Lanka Tea is 83%. So Plantation Sector?

Fuel price hikes in SL is inevitable, energy cost goes up and Industries based on these power like ceramic ,tiles ,Porcelain will get affected

basically SL wont be able to withstand this volatility. Power cuts become inevitable

Wheat Corn prices going to soar because Russia and Ukraine accounts for 30% of wheat export. We wont have paang to eat

i can go on weighing the impacts..The bad news is we are already in a sh...ty situation and this is going to affect us much more than any other country could get affected.

This war may not last long as Ukraine will eventually negotiate a settlement with Putin as there will be no other options. Inflation has hit USA badly with dwindling popularity of Biden. The economic interdependency of the West & Russia at a time when global inflation has hit an all time high will act as a deterrent to prolong sanctions.

Post war recovery of stock markets are generally huge. So, its wise to think and act rather than act and regret.

Ukraine agrees to hold talks with Russia at Belarus border
Ukraine has agreed to hold talks with Russia at the Belarus border, the Ukraine presidency was cited as saying by AFP. The talks will be held near the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

According to reports, the agreement for talks is a result of a phone call conversation between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Belarus President, Alexander Lukashenko.
It was agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would meet with the Russian delegation without preconditions on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, near the Pripyat River.
Lukashenko has taken responsibility for ensuring that all planes, helicopters and missiles stationed on Belarusian territory remain on the ground during the Ukrainian delegation's travel, talks and return.

The development comes after Russia had earlier sent a delegation to Belarus and said it was ready to start peace negotiations with Ukraine in Gomel city, Ukraine's President Zelensky had rejected Moscow's offer.

While Ukraine and Russia agreeing talks at Belarus border, Russia puts deterrent force including its nuclear arms unit on high Alert. This creates a fear among analyst that this issue is not going to stop with Ukraine. West knowing Putin should try to end things at Belarus

Israel offers to mediate a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call Sunday he would offer to mediate and broker a ceasefire between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Kremlin said.

Bennett is the only Western leader who has spoken to Putin in recent days. Israel maintains good relations with both Ukraine and Russia.
The official said Putin told Bennett he is ready for negotiations. “In this context the prime minister said that Israel is ready to help in any way it will be asked and at any moment to try and bring the parties closer together to end the crisis,” the official said.

Russia & Ukraine are also two favourite tourist destinations. So, apart from Russian tourists who are expected in large numbers, Sri Lanka will be a good alternative to tourists who visit Russia and Ukraine.

Asian markets have been recommended by the world renowned veteran investor Mark Mobius under the prevailing situation and CSE has witnessed net inflows in the recent past signaling renewed interest by foreign investors. So, all in all good times are ahead for the tourism industry and to our stock market.
