I was just going through the Asia Securities Key Buys for week 26. I have to say that most of these key buys never change....I think they are just forwarding the same document every week. Here is the recommendation for LION

"After recording a phenomenal performance in 1-3QFY2011, LION’s future performance would augur with the positive potential outlay for the beer market predominantly coming from the tourist influx, overall increasing level of recreation activity and the incremental contribution from the North and East markets. The Indian venture (22.5% stake by LION) is to add value to LION’s bottom line in the medium-long term due to the long term nature of the investment".

As per my understanding LION has already disclosed their intentions on divesting their 22.5% stake in Indian venture.... Question Can anyone please correct me if I am wrong...

I think we need to extra cautions about some of these research reports...

Just give a call to your broker and tell him to add your mail id to their mail list. Then you will get the daily / weekly reports.

I would like to re-post one of my earlier posts regarding the broker research. I feel that same post apply's to this tread as well.

"Re: Can YOU please stop blaming against Regulators and Manipulators?
by Tiger on Wed Jul 13, 2011 9:14 am

While above is true, I don't completely agree that all investors to blame. Investors come from different backgrounds. Every body cannot be expected to have expert knowledge or time to analyse each move. That is the job of investment advisers and gate keepers to the market, in that context I think below post is relevant to this thread as well, which I had posted in another thread. I am re posting here.

SEC cannot act like Robin Hood, to specify the price of the IPO and pass on the benefit to investors.

If prices are miserably off from the true value, look at the investment advisers those who recommend it. we all are paying for their services by way of brokerage, and they pocket that money and give out crap.

In Sri Lanka, please don't believe in the forecasts that brokers produce. How do they generate numbers?, just out of thin air. Investment analysis doesn't work like that, and after all its not easy or cheap.

All what you can do is rather than blaming SEC, press them to regulate investment advisory services; things like education requirements, adequacy or research, conflicts of interest, disclosures, past performance etc... that will safe guard investors.

If you are continue to blame regulators, we will be going nowhere."

Guys...

Normally the key buys are long term solid counters. All these forecasting comes after number of financial modeling, and brain storming. These figures and forecasts has its theoretical backing. But in the real market it could be the other way around. You all know one person with lot of cash n a PC can change any counter's faith.
